Crapaudine beetroot has a lovely subtle taste, much more refined than other varieties of beetroot. It is an ancient variety of garden beet grown in central France. The name 'Crapaudine' refers to its rough skin, which is very easy to peel from the long roots. Once inside, the flesh is very sweet and soft once cooked. It is absolutely delicious sliced in salads, and goes amazingly well with cured hams, balsamic vinegar, chopped parsley and some fiery chillies.Class I
