Long shallots are bigger than the regular shallots and for their shape are also called Banana Shallots. They are well-loved by chefs as they are easy to peel and full of flavour. They have a smooth, tan-coloured skin and are slightly milder than other types. As they're larger, they're swifter to prepare than the same volume of smaller shallots.
