A traditional take on this classic Italian wine: the hot 2003 vintage adding a glowing fig & strawberry character to the usual bright tea-leaf & cherry aromas on the nose. The palate is fairly full, with warm fleshy bitter cherry fruit amid a broad structure, softened through 2-3 years of large old barrel & bottle ageing. Drinking now & over the next couple of years.
