About Natoora Professional

Natoora started in France and we have retained a strong connection with this heritage, but the beginnings of Natoora Professional lie back in the story of Portobello Food, which merged with Natoora in 2007. At the time Portobello Food was importing a wide selection of Italian groceries, cheese and charcuterie, predominantly for the Italian community in London. At the time Rose Gray and Ruth Rogers were buying products for the River Café from Portobello Food and approached us with regards to importing and sourcing fruit and vegetables directly from Italy, since the quality and variety they wanted for their restaurant simply wasn't available.

River Café wasn't alone in wanting produce directly from Italy and France and so in recent years Natoora has increasingly focused on the sourcing of fruits and vegetables for supply to some of the UK's top restaurants.

To ensure the quality and variety that top chefs demand, rather than buy from the wholesalers on the UK market we import directly from France and Italy; where the food culture as well as the structure of the retail sector have ensured that thriving wholesale markets still exist. We now have our own dedicated buyers at the wholesale markets in Milan (where we are one of the largest customers) and Rungis, near Paris, with two transports a week from each. Indeed we are the only fruit and vegetables supplier acting as importer and distributor in London and with its own buyers in these markets. Our position next to New Convent Garden Market, also gives us access to produce from across the UK. We have dedicated buyers based in each of these markets meaning we can easily communicate a customers specific needs and are able to tailor our buying directly to them. Want to learn more? In 2010 we also merged with Vima Ltd. London's premium hand-made pasta producer. Widely regarded as creating "The best pasta in London", Vittorio Maschio and his team have for many years been supplying top chefs with over 30 varieties of fresh pasta. Now, along with our range of fresh produce we are also able to supply this renowned fresh pasta.
